BEN- SHOLOM / MARSHALL DOB: 11 March
1966 (19 Adar 5726) Religion: Jewish, Incarcerated On Death Row:
I am
currently enrolled in a college extension programme being offered by
Patten College of Oakland, CA. here at the prison. I am working
on a Theology major, and I am enjoying the process. I just
wish the programme had become available much sooner than it did, it is
very recent. I enjoy corresponding with all sorts of
people, religion (or lack thereof), race, gender, or age does NOT
matter. Letters, for me, are very
important as a lifeline to the outside world and it always brightens my
day to get a letter at mail call! I enjoy music, before coming to
prison I was an amateur musician. I started playing my first
musical
instrument in the third grade, a Trumpet, later picking up other
instruments
in the Brass and Woodwinds sections of the orchestra. I continued
to
play until I joined the American Army in 1983. Although
the prison severely limits the number of audio cassettes we can have to
twelve, (we aren't permitted CDs at all) I have cassettes from such
varied artists as Sheryl Crow, Quiet Riot, Foreigner, and Don
Henley. My favourite song of all time is "Hotel California" by
the Eagles. I also draw, when I have time. I am something
of a self taught cartoonist and
have recently even created my own original character, the "Sage", based
upon a 19th Century Eastern European Rabbi. There is only
one
rule to correspondence with me, I cannot on the advice of my attorneys
discuss any details related to the case I currently have on
appeal. Any questions regarding this information can be addressed
directly to my attorneys' I will provide the
address of my attorneys freely upon anyone's request. I do not
personally enjoy this muzzle, but this is a fight for my life, and I
have to trust the advice of my attorneys. I'm sorry, but, that is
just the way that it is. Anything else, is open for
discussion. You want to talk about anything ranging from music to
motorcycles, and it is fine with me. However, for us to discuss
anything,
it means you first have to write a letter :-) so it is now up to you,
if you write, I will respond. I will be awaiting your letter at
mail call ! I will leave you with a lymric that I learned as a
child, and I was reminded of when presented with this opportunity,
"Opportunity knocks but once, then comes again no more.
Temptation bangs and pounds
till it smashes in your door!" See ya!

WILLIAM
CLARK The first thing you can do
is pray because I'll need it! You would be shocked at how
many innocent people have
been executed throughout American history.
Secondly, you
can help by becoming an "ACTIVIST" to help lobby for my unconditional
release. Third, you can help by sending donations to help
me pay for a competent,
caring,
experienced appellate attorney. For information on the case see
my webpage at http://ccadp.org/williamclark.htm
Finally, you can help by
being a friend, by writing me to help add a sense of enjoyment
and normalcy to an otherwise demeaning, dehumanizing, frustrating
situation. All letters will be answered immediately and I
encourage attorneys and
activists to write!

KENNETH CLAIR By the
way, I am not one who is hung up on looks. I do believe that
beauty comes from within. I, Kenneth Clair, am a
strong and proud forty-three year old African American male. With
the passing of each day, I may be one day closer to the end of my life
on this planet we call earth. So at this most important time in
my life, I've decided that I would like to make some new friends.
I am a California prisoner on death row seeking pen friends. Yes,
this is my very first posting of a penpal request.
I am six feet two inches tall. I weigh two hundred twenty pounds.
I was born May 9, 1959. Even though on the outside I may
feel like a bull, this experience feels strange and abstract. I
feel as though I am trying to knock down a wall of some kind within me
as I try to compose some things about myself. Well, here are some
of
the statistics about me to whomever the lady might be. I've been here
at
San Quentin State Prison on death row since 1987, and yes, I am
innocent. I am innocent and sit in a cell thinking about a
conviction after a trial with no defense argued on my behalf. But
I am fighting the state every step of the way and am hoping that
someone will realize that the wrong man is locked up. I am very
active in a number of things, sports for one. Even at this age I
do play a lot of basketball and handball. I also work out at
least three or four times a week and, yes, I do believe in keeping my
body strong and healthy. I enjoy reading a lot because I do
believe that saying that knowledge is power. I enjoy art work and
drawing and I have a strong passion in my soul to write. To me
writing is peaceful and pleasurable and yes, I do feel
that I am a writer who has more than one style of expressing himself.
There are many doors into and chambers within one's mind. It is
my desire to touch and caress the mind and soul of a correspondent and
to discover touched and caressed my own. How ? I would try and
would hope for raw honesty and for pure positivity, for mental
stimulation
and for good vibrations.
I like writing poetry. I am a black man with a lyrical spirit who
enjoys expressing himself with utter candor. I am looking for
utter candor and no hang ups in a friend. I love writing long
letters which are emotionally true. I dream of emotional truth
from a friend. I write from the heart. I seek someone to
share my words
and to see if the seeds of friendship can blossom and grow. I am
from New Orleans, Louisiana. Yes, I was born and raised in the
South. Wicked roots stripped of pretense helped make me who I am.
I am open minded and straight forward, not just in general, but
also
about Kenneth Clair, a basically good man with good intentions who
tries to do one good deed each day. Even though wongfully held in
bondage for more than fifteen years for a crime which I did not commit,
I try to
be compassionate and caring and to hold on to that part of who I am as
a decent human being. I have a warm personality. I am
romantic
and sensual, in writing and when we meet. In spite of what has
happened,
I have future goals. This is not the end of the road for me.
I
hope that I have not been prejudged. I am just looking to make
some
friends within friendships which might flourish with the essence of
truth,
which are based on harmony and on respect, which travel without
expectations
and which allow for learning about each other without reservations of
heart or of mind. Yes, the empathy of friendships, knowledgeable
and real, might prove marvelously exciting in marvellous ways.
So,
if you are interested in getting to know me better, you can reach me at
the following name and address. I would feel honoured to hear
from
you. Visit his webpae at: http://ccadp.org/kennethclair.htm

H.J. CODDINGTON I was an author of gambling "how to" books and
professional "21" card counter and poker player. I
played in casinos
worldwide. During a long string of troubles in my personal life,
partly due to undiagnosed depression and other health problems, I
started
to lose touch with reality and my work suffered. I lost my girl,
my house, my mind, and all but 40,000 or so of my savings.
I finally went off the
deep end completely and wound up on Death Row : killed 2 people for
insane reasons. To give you an idea how bad depression is as an
illness, how even successful famous people can come to believe their
lives and / or the world is hopeless, look at all the people its
happened to, like me. Winona Ryder is a recent example, Judy Garland,
Marilyn Monroe, Howard Hughes, past victims, Jim Morrison, etc.
We've all heard of other such examples. I, like all depressives,
felt things were bad despite any and all evidence to the
contrary. I still had about $40,000, a BMW, a Porsche, (both paid
for), all the "toys," expensive stereo, TV, camcorder, film camera, 2
VCRs, art work, gun collection, my physical health was good, I
exercised and ate like the doctors wish people would, as befitting the
scientist and ex-marine I was. Yet I felt hopeless, not in
control of my own destiny, a failure. (To be fair, I had suffered
a long string of defeats, my girl, most of my
$ was gone;...Now I paint, write essays about widely different things (I have
massive science education and life experience to draw on) I will
write
to pen pals.

GLENN CORNWELL has the following request: I 'm having a very critical

income. The owner let the bank get it somehow, and now they've given
her a short time to move. I was hoping you could get some of your

MARK CHRISTOPHER
CREW My name is Mark Christopher Crew.
I'll be 45 Christmas. I was born in Texas, Irish decent, black hair,
blue eyes, 6', 195 lbs. I've been incarcerated 16 years, the last 8 on
death row. With each year I seem to be losing parts of me I need
the most. In the beginning the loss didn't seem so much, I felt like I
was able
to adapt rather than change, now I'm changing. My sense of humor and
easy
going ways are being replaced with a sense of cold and hardened heart.
Maybe it's inevitable, ... or maybe I just need someone to help me keep
a grip. I'm reaching out hoping to find someone willing to reach in.
I'm
not seeking romance nor fair weather friend, I need someone solid.
I'm a mixed bag of
tricks. I'm fascinated by the odd and unexplainable. I'm not much into
"man's"
God or
religions,
yet I do believe there's much more to the grand scheme of things. I'm
spiritual and into the cards. Keeping in shape is very important, both
mind
and body. I spend 19 to 20 hours a day locked in
this cell, so keeping my
mind up is the tough part. I read about everything from old Russian
classics to something fresh off the press. I have a thing for Harleys
and drag racing. I spend a lot of the wee morning hours writing:
whether
it's a short story, letter of keeping track of my day through my
journal.
I draw prison art, black ink, white paper. Most of it is dark/Gothic
such
as castles, dragons, gargoyles and vampires. Music is the best part of
my day; one minute it might be Loreena McKennett or Buddy Guy, the next
Orgy or Everlast. I even crochet! (snicker) I run 6 to 10 miles daily
in
a small exercise area. At times I feel like I'm running in a barrel,
but
once the endorphin rush hits me "I'm gone."

RICHARD ALLEN
DAVIS Greetings with a
smile. I was just wondering that after going through my trial and
all the media statements about myself, could there be someone out in
the world who would be with an open mind to not take
everything that has been said about myself. Could there be anyone
who could take the time to see for themselves, just who
I really am. I don't have no complaints about my due, as you can
see
by my
photo, I
have lived a life inside the walls, it is almost as though this is
"home sweet
home", sad but true. The most often thought that I do
have, is wondering if for someone such as myself, can one ever fall
back in love with life again, for myself, I feel that I do not have that
right, or even the time spent considering such a thought. "

RONNIE DEMENT Live from the land of the dead - I'm a young 36 year old,
who was taught and raised in the ways of the "old school", respect,
honesty, class and dignity, who has landed his 5 feet 8 inch butt on
Death Row. Aww Damn!! Unfortunately I was in custody before
my 19th birthday. So, I don't have many experiences to
write about. Thats where you come in, see, when you write,
I'll be able to experience new things, travel to new places, see new
sights, taste new foods, meet new people. All through your mighty
pen...Now, why is that so important ? I have no friends outside
of this prison. And my family

GREG DEMETRULIAS
What I am looking for, after spending the past two decades behind the
walls , four
of it on death row, I find myself completely alone and in need of
someone who is willing to help me out financially. We are not
allowed to work so any money we
receive must be from the outside. It must be sent in
the form of a postal money
order
with my name and number like so: Greg Demetrulias # C
22022.
In order to make
what time I have left more bearable, what I am asking for is three
hundred dollars to buy electrical appliances (i.e. television and
radio) and other items available to purchase each month from the
canteen. They provide us the bare minimum and little else. Their
thinking is to house us until our number is up and that's it.
The penitentiary can be a
very lonely and unforgiving place at times. I wonder where I find
the strength to continue on, locked up 24 hours a day in a 4 by 8 foot cell
and a steel slab with a thin mattress to sleep on. The
stench and the noise of
five hundred convicts yelling over each other is enough to drive one to
the brink of madness.
If you choose to
go outside, you must first be strip searched and then run through a
metal detector all the while under the watchful eye of a gunner with a Heckler
& Koch assault rifle with hollow point bullets and a 357 magnum side arm and that's
not the half of it. If you are interested in finding out more
about
this unseen and
unspoken place I find myself in, I will be more than willing to give a
rare glimpse into these walls. Sincerely , Greg Demetrulias,

KEITH DOOLIN
Mr. Doolin makes a claim
of actual innocence. Mr. Doolin's family and friends have worked
tirelessly to
uncover new exculpatory evidence. Had this work been done at the
time of the trial, we would not be in this position today. He
would appreciate your letters of support - write to

ROBERT EDWARDS This past June 14 (2001) I
turned 40. I am White / Honduran, 5'10", 185 lbs. Born in
Long Beach, CA. Have traveled all over Central and South America,
lived in
Hawaii for a few years. I was an avid Scuba/ Free
diver. I love the ocean, hiking and camping. I have a 16
year old son. Been in for 9 years. I enjoy writing both
short
stories, poetry. I also draw a little bit. Wildlife is my
favourite subject. I love to exercise both my body and mind at
all
times. I am looking for someone to be my eyes and ears to the
outside
world. Someone to help me hold onto my sanity through their
friendship
when I struggle. And vice versa. A burden too heavy for one
can easily be carried by two. I am open
and honest. Game playing is not for me anymore. I'm beyond
that and sincerity is a must for
me. Enclosed are some of my works (see webpage below). One
is a story that I submitted and it was printed. The title is
"Down and Out." Also here are two of my poems. I just
started doing them, but its the mess. that I am
trying to get out there. Also enclosed is a photo....the photo is
my
only one... I don't know if it would be too forward to put on that
postage would be helpful.
I
don't have anybody or any money coming in...I'm allowed to receive
photos and enjoy receiving them. Here on
San Quentin's Condemned Row we can get : photos, printed
material, US postage and US money orders. No books,
magazines. ...Thank you both for caring about us. It means a lot
to me to know not everybody agrees with this countries' way of
doing things. Take care and I hope to hear from you soon.

MICHAEL FLINNER
If
asked to describe myself, aside from the photos, I’d say I’m a
God-fearing, harmless, spontaneous, whimsical, passionate,
goal-oriented man with a genuine love for life and a positive
self-attitude. However, there have been several times when I honestly
believed that the light at the end of life’s tunnel had all but burned
out. In
an effort to keep from becoming one of the “forgotten”, I have chosen
to break ground upon a series of personal growth tasks while awaiting
resolution of appeals filed. First,
I plan to enroll in various college courses leading to a degree with an
emphasis in land planning and ornamental horticulture. Secondly,
I'd like to write a few books and become a published author.
Additionally I have a significant financial goal which must be achieved
in order to retain aggressive, competent legal representation and
numerous expert witnesses for my next trial. No contribution will
go unnoticed. Most importantly, I yearn to make many new friends
to share with for years to come. I hope you'l join me in my
personal crusade against capital punishment. As human life is
sacred, every person has value in the eyes of God. Write
soon and ask what you wish. I will answer all,
postage
permitting. Photos are
welcomed. Write in thoughts that lie too deep for tears, it is
hard to see the pain behind the mask. For more see Michael's page

DANIEL
FREDERICKSON Hello,
My name is Daniel Carl Frederickson and I am housed on San Quentin's condemned
row awaiting the appeals process prior to execution of
sentence. I want to stop it as I am innocent and do not desire to
die. I am looking for people who want to see justice done and don't
know exactly what they can do to stop it. Well you can stop
it by assisting one person at a time as they will never repeal the
entire death penalty. How can you help me? You can help me by helping
to fund my continuing legal education... - ...On a personal note
I am a 36 year old Native American of Mimbreno Apache decent. I
am 6'O" tall and weigh in at 205. I have been incarcerated for 3-1/2
years and have been on death row for 2 years. I am unmarried and
have no children but would like very much to have both in my future if
I can beat this thing. I come from a very broken home and currently
only am in touch with my elderly grandparents therefore I have no one
to rely on for assistance of any type other than love. Any and
all
letters will be answered and any and all assistance will be used
towards
my legal defense. Any left over from my educational needs will go
towards purchasing investigators and paralegals to assist me in
my endeavor to escape this punishment. Inquiries and assistance should
be sent directly to me at:

Please correspond with me
before sending any monies directly to me. I am happy to answer any and
all questions from interested persons and if you are in the
legal community and would like to assist me in any way that too will
greatly be appreciated. May God grant you all peace and love.
JERRY FRYE My name's Jerry Grant Frye and I need some
help. I'm sitting here on California's death row and have
been since 1988. This case or nightmare started in 1985, I
was accused of robbing and
murdering an elderly couple Robbie and Jannie Brandt, this was in
Amador
County... Visit
his webpage for more information at: http://ccadp.org/jerryfrye.htm
...There is a truck load
of things I haven't mentioned. The main thing is that I never had
a
fair trial or anything, thanks to the local idiots in Amador County CA,
and
this sorry state system. And I never will after all this.
