Subject: AUTHORIZED ITEMS FOR ALL EXERCISE YARDS
CONDEMNED GRADEAAND GRADE B
ADMINISTRATIVE SEGREGATION
(This supersedes the memorandum dated February 19,1997)

Effective January 4, 1999 all inmates participating in the exercise yard program for Condemned Grade A, Grade B or Administrative Segregation will be required to comply with an unclothed body search prior to exiting their cells.

When exiting the cell for yard release all Condemned Grade A, Grade B and Administrative Segregation inmates will wear only one pair of undershorts, one T-shirt, one pair of state socks, and a pair of shoes. All other authorized items will be hand-carried by the inmate to the exercise yard.

AUTHORIZED ITEMS FOR CONDEMNED GRADE A INMATES:

2 pair of undershorts (includes running shorts) - may be worn to and from the yard

1 tee shirt

1 set of thermals (top and bottom) ~ 1 pair of sweat pants and sweat shirt

1 pair of state issued denim pants

1 state issued shirt

1 jacket OR windbreaker

1 watch cap

1 wrist watch

1 religious medallion

1 wedding band

tobacco (must be placed in one small clear plastic bag; any tobacco remaining at the conclusion of yard will not be allowed back into the unit)

Coffee/beverage mix (one small clear plastic bag)

legal work

1 pair of shoes (includes state or personal)

1 pair of shower shoes

1 palm brush/state comb

1 state towel

1 tumbler with lid (empty)

1 rain poncho (inclement weather)

1 pair of glasses (prescription OR sunglasses)

1 stinger

1 container of shampoo

soap will be issued by the sanitation officer

NOTE: Games (chess, checkers, dominoes, pinochle cards, pen fillers, paper for score keeping) will be provided by the unit and issued at the beginning of the yard program. During yard recall all Condemned Grade A inmates must only be wearing I pair of undershorts, I pair of state socks, I tee shirt and one pair of shoes. All other items will be hand-carried by the inmate back into the housing unit,

SEGREGATION EXERCISE YARDS
1 Yellow Jumpsuit (Administrative Segregation inmates)

1 pair of state issued denim pants; 1 state issued shirt (Grade B inmates)

1 pair of state socks

2 pair of undershorts (both pair of undershorts may be worn to and from the yard)

1 pair of state socks

1 state jacket

1 pair slippers or soft-sole state shoes

1 state tee-shirt

1 state towel

10 rolled cigarettes (Grade B and non-reception center inmates only)

Subject  ADDENDUM TO ACCEPTABLE EXERCISE YARD ITEMS
 
 

Effective January 4, 1999, all Condemned Grade A inmates in East Block will be permitted to wea~ two (2) pairs of boxer shorts when escorted from their cells to the exercise yard. In addition, inmates may ~ the following items to the yard:
